Browse All TopicsDear Experts,
I'm doing a BULK INSERT, using the FORMATFILE option. One column (BankID) will always be the same. It doesn't appear in my source file. Is there any way to hard-code it with the "bcp" file? This is my current (WRONG) "bcp" file:
8.0
5
1 SQLCHAR 0 4 "" 1 vca_BankID ""
2 SQLCHAR 0 10 "" 2 vca_CifNbr ""
3 SQLCHAR 0 2 "" 3 vca_Appl ""
4 SQLCHAR 0 10 "" 4 vca_AcctNbr ""
5 SQLCHAR 0 3 "\n" 5 vca_RelCode ""
The line containing "vca_BankID" is WRONG. There is no such field in my data file. Is there any way I can say "Always put the number "1" in vca_BankID"?
Thanks!

Instead of hard-coding it from the format file, you can set a default value in your column in your destination table. This way, you don't have to include the column in your format file and any new records inserted to your destination table will have that value.
Hope this helps.
