The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Sharepoint in DMZ

Asked by avdvyver in MS SQL Server

Hi Experts,

I currently have an internal Sharepoint 3 Beta 2 installation running alongside a SQL 2005 Reporting Services installation. I need both Sharepoint and Reporting Services to be accessed via the Internet. We have a firewall and I've also created a DMZ and my questions as follows:

1.) Do I need to have a copy of both Sharepoint and SSRS running in the DMZ for security reasons? Both Sharepoint and SSRS needs to be accesses internally and externally. I would prefer to only have one copy of SSRS running otherwise I would need additional SQL 2005 licenses

2.) How do I set up the security on IIS so that both SSRS and Sharepoint will be available to users accessing it over the internet? They will not be logging in using Active Directory accounts. When I allow anonymous access for the IUSR_CITRUSSP account in IIS, SSRS and Sharepoint does not want to work.

3.) Currently, the only way that I can have SSRS and Sharepoint running together on the same box is to assign a different port number for SSRS to operate on. Are there not better ways to configure this? I've looked at Microsoft's solutions for running SSRS and Sharepoint together (creating exclusions and editing the web.config file) but this does not seem to work.

Many ideas of help would be much appreciated!Start Free Trial
