For reasons I can't explain I opened enterprise manager to find that there were no longer any items appearing under the (local) (Windows XP) Branch within the Tree...
It now looks like this...
Concol Root

----(local) (Windows XP)
|
------ (no items)

What happened and/or how can I fix it? I have current backups of all the databases that matter so if I can just get SQL server back to the way it was when I installed it the first time I'm good to go but then here's the problem.
Some things you might want to know is...
1) The problem occured immediately after trying to restore a database (it failed and I ended up here)
2) I uninstalled SQL Server and reinstalled it only to find myself back where I started.
3) I'm running SQL Server Developer's Edition on a Windows XP Workstation.
4) At one time time computer name was changed from something very cryptic to something simple "RICK" without the quotes.
Anyone what I need to do to get the basic pieces back?
Thanks!
Rick
