The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Connection Issues driving me Mad!!

Asked by j_Bryan in MS SQL Server

Tags: , , ,

This is the error i receive when trying to create a DSN from Client Computer.

Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error:10061
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error:17
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SQL Server does not exist or access Denied

When i configure a DSN from the server i do not get any errors and i am using the same settings as i did on the server.

I am verifying authenticity of the login id using SQL Server with loginID and Password.

The only thing that i can find that might be the problem is the sqlsvr32.dll Driver on the server is release 2000.086.1830 and the client sqslsvr32.dll driver versions are  2000.085.1117.00.

As a side not both of the client computers that i am having problems with were both working at one time.

Also if i remote in using the userID from one of the client computers that isnt working i can access the server fine.

I am able to Ping the server as well. i actually have drives mapped to the server.

Its got to be something with the security or something.. any ideas please please help.. I'm going mad, i am on day #2 working on this.

Thanks
