The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Problem with RDA Pull method

Asked by marjog in MS SQL Server

Tags: ,

Greetings.

I have been trying to connect my Pocket PC to SQL Server on the desktop, using RDA. I feel I am almost there, but am having a problem when testing the pull method on the emulator. I am trying to pull a Stock table from the SQL Server to the Pocket PC. I have configured the Server Agent correctly, and allow anonymous logins. I haven't set up any database files on the Pocket PC, as I am not sure if that is necessary, or even exactly how to do it. I would appreciate if someone could help me with these last few steps. I have posted the Pull code below. I am using VB.NET in VS.NET 2005, with SQL Server Express, and SQL Server CE. Thanks.

 ' Connection string to the instance of SQL Server
        Dim rdaOleDbConnectString As String = _
            "Provider=Microsoft.SQLSERVER.OLEDB.CE.2.0; Data Source=xp1\sqlexpress;Initial Catalog=InfoDB; " + _
            "User Id=sa;Password=password"

        ' Initialize the RDA object.
        Dim rda As SqlCeRemoteDataAccess = Nothing

        Try
            'Try the Pull operation.
            rda = New SqlCeRemoteDataAccess( _
                "http://localhost/PDA_Folder/sqlcesa30.dll", _
                "", _
                "", _
                "Data Source=\My Documents\Data\PDA_Data.sdf")

            rda.Pull("Stock", "Select * from Stock", _
               rdaOleDbConnectString) , _
            RdaTrackOption.TrackingOnWithIndexes, _
            "ErrorTable")

        Catch er As SqlCeException
            MessageBox.Show(er.Message, "Error")

        Finally
            'Dispose of the RDA object.
            rda.Dispose()
