The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

SQL 2000 Transaction Log backup failing

Asked by ksoszka in MS SQL Server

Tags: , , , ,

Hi, I am running SQL Server 2000 on WS2k3. A job that is part of a DB Maintenance plan is failing. It is a Transaction Log Backup, here is the Command:

EXECUTE master.dbo.xp_sqlmaint N'-PlanID 6E42B959-F40D-4FBF-B16D-686DA7F3928B -WriteHistory  -VrfyBackup -BkUpMedia DISK -BkUpLog  -UseDefDir  -DelBkUps 1DAYS -BkExt "TRN"'

Here is the error:

Event Type:      Warning
Event Source:      SQLSERVERAGENT
Event Category:      Job Engine
Event ID:      208
Date:            4/17/2007
Time:            11:58:31 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      RUEDATA
Description:
SQL Server Scheduled Job 'Transaction Log Backup Job for DB Maintenance Plan 'DB Maintenance Plan1'' (0x2AD44FE6F7FD2242A3220EC0554ED77D) - Status: Failed - Invoked on: 2007-04-17 11:58:23 - Message: The job failed.  The Job was invoked by User RUENET\administrator.  The last step to run was step 1 (Step 1).

The odd part is that the two logs that are supposed to be backed up are being backed up, but the old ones are not being deleted. That seems to be the only part that is not working.

Thanks in advance!
