Is it possible that restarting the server would disconnect the current connections and then logging into the actual server again would allow you to change the setting ?

is there a way i can use sp_configure to change that value, or do i need to reinstall?

i tried restarting and that didnt work.
im now trying to use the command utility
and using this command
exec sp_configure "user connections, 56
to change the number from one connection to more
i think this should work , except im getting the error
the configuration option "user connections" does not exist or it may be an advanced option.
i know it exists why isnt it working?

close the enterprise manager, stop the sql server agent, and connect using osql (sql 2000) or sqlcmd (sql 2005), later one having the possibility of a admin connection, to run the command to increase the parameter.
