The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Is Database mirroring a solution in creating a "Accept" envirnoment?

Asked by Chris_Gralike in MS SQL Server, SQL Server 2005

Hi experts,

The task ahead of me is simple on paper, a bit more problematic in practice. I needed to keep a second database in sync with the production one. The two databases are on different nodes Resp. Production and Acceptance. Now i allready have a working sollution to the problem by copying a backup file back to the Acceptance machine and restore that scriptwise.

Only i was wondering if there might be a solution to the problem using less latter and a more transparent solution to the problem by using Database Mirroring wich is available from SP1.

The general idea was to mirror a copy on the remote node and scriptwise copy that one back to the Acceptance instance on the same node. There are only a few questions still bothering me. What happens if the mirror goes down, is the Production envirnoment influenced in any way? Is it possible maybe to set up a one-way mirror so i dont need to do the copy on the acceptance machine? Does the Possible copy taks affect the mirror set negativly in any way?

I will be testing this in a lab envirnoment, but though lets ask the guys here to share their thoughts on this one. What do you think would be a nice solution to the problem?Start Free Trial
