Here is the scenario.
We are a multilocation WAN.
Main Server is SQL 2000 with a db using Merge replication with several subscriber db's (MSDE and SQL2k).
A new system must be configured that is a laptop. It will have MSDE. It will be a suscriber to the merge replication. It will use DHCP to get it's IP address depending on where in the WAN it is plugged into.
What is the best way to configure the replication to work with the laptop?
The issues:
-On Publisher, all the db's have an Alias set up with there name and IP address. If DHCP, then nothing to set.
-The laptop is not part of the AD/Domain structure.
-Forcing the user to manually set the ip to a static IP when they are in the office is not feasible.
