Reporting Services 2005 Error "The Database Engine instance you selected is not valid for this edition of Reporting Services."

Error "The Database Engine instance you selected is not valid for this edition of Reporting Services." when trying to connect to an MSSQL 2000 datasource from Reporting Services 2005 using MSSQL 2005 Workgroup Edition.

I have Reporting Services running on a named instance of MSSQL 2005 Workgroup Edition.  I am trying to use a data source located which is a SQL2000 database.  This database is the default instance on the same server.

My suspicion is that Workgroup Edition of MSSQL 2005 will not allow remote databases and considers a different instance to be remote.

Is this the case or should I be able to access the local 2000 databases from Reporting Services 2005 using the Workgroup Edition?Start Free Trial
