have 4 numeric fields, need to turn into date to use- how in SQL?

I have 8 number fileds in a SQLSErver table (one is admit dates and one is release dates for an app that keeps records of inmates): admitmonth, admitday. admityear, admitcentury (dont ask, the century was in legacy data). I have another set in the same table of relmonth, relday, relyear, relcentury.

I have form input passing a particular day or month to the query.

What I need to do is turn the admit date into a date, and the release date into a date and then find out if my form date is between those two dates. The goal is to see which inmates where housed during this time period.

I have tried the convert function:
Select Convert(datetime,Convert(varchar,admityear) + '-' + Convert(varchar,admitday) + '-' + Convert(varchar,admitmonth) ) as thedate

But how do I do the release date in the same query so I can reuten which inmates where in BETWEEN the admit date and the release date? , or am I able to do that, anyway?
