I will be using IIS configured as a Public Web Server from a Windows 2000 Advanced Server computer.
I will also be upsizing my Access97 back-end data MDB file to SQL Server 2000.
The IIS Web Server will be accessing this new SQL back-end database for all web-related traffic and data exchange.
Windows 2000 Advanced Server is on a Workgroup (not a domain) however it is setup as a Primary Domain Server.
All computers on my intranet are behind a DLink DGL-4100 Gigabit Gaming Router. I will be opening HTTP Port 80 on the Router to allow traffic to flow to and from the IIS Public Web Server. I have a DSL broadband connection (1Mb upload, 10Mb download ). If need be I will use a load balancing dual WAN router and use 2 x DSL connections should performance become an issue.
I have some questions related to both security and performance.
Questions:
1) Should I setup SQL Server on the same computer (harddrive) as my Windows 2000 Advanced Server?
2) Should I setup SQL Server in a separate logical partition on the Windows 2000 Advanced Server harddrive?
3) Should I setup on a completely separate computer/server?
Any feedback is much appreciated. High points for your efforts!
Thanks!
