The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

URGENT - Sql Server 2000 - Database ID changed after restore..?

Asked by TheFoot in MS SQL Server, Visual Basic Programming

Hi.

I am using VB6/ADO to perform a backup of an application master database, then restoring it (changing the filenames) as a new client database.  (We are a web dev company and use a generic web database as a base for each new website.)

Attached is the SQL that I use to perform the backup/restore.

The problem that I have is the following error is reported when I try to populate a vb6 combobox:

"Could not find database ID 34. Database may not be activated yet or may be in transition."

I have found copious solutions on the internet that all involve recompiling sprocs, but it doesnt help me as I use straight SQL on an ADO connection against the database.  If I open query analyser and login as the same user and run the same query - no problem...

The SQL I am using is simple: "select LANGUAGE_ID, LANGUAGE_NAME from [NEW_DATABASE].[dbo].[mt_LANGUAGE] order by LANGUAGE_NAME".  I am referencing the database in this way because the ADO connection default database is another.  I eliminated this as a possible cause by connecting to another database in query analyser and running the same query - without problem.

What gives?  The database ID is 33 when I check sysdatabases, so why is the app looking for id 34?

Pls help1  [Confused..]
