The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I have a weekly import process. Each run is suppose to have 7-days of data in it. The 'rule' is that the proc is run on Thursday. It contains data from the previous Wednesday to the current Tuesday (GETDATE() - 8 thru GETDATE() - 2.

Assuming I build a temp table with the days of data the table is suppose to contain, without a lot of overhead I want to ascertain as part of the process that
1) The table contains at least one record for each distinct date.
2) The table contains no data outside the rabnge.

So, if my temp table contained seven rows with the values of CheckDate = 6/18/2008; 6/19/2008' 6/20/2008; 6/21/2008; 6/22/2008; 6/23/2008; 6/24/2008
and my 'test' table contained 2000 rows of data and has a column named FileDate, what kind of test can I do to make sure the above criteria are met, and return meaningful data such as:
"The table is missing data for 06-23-2008" or "The table contains data for 06-15-2008, which is outside the current range"

I would suffice to report only one invalid contition (the first determined) if there were more than one.

For the sake of providing an example, lets call the temp table @CheckDates and the working table ActivationsImport. The code will be in a stored procedure, so an invalid condition will roll back my transactions and exit, raising an error, but I can handle that part.
