Tips when using an UPDATE statement on a table which contains millions of rows SQL Server 2005

Hi All,

I am interested in learning the fundamentals on how to perform UPDATE query's on tables which have millions of rows.  Mainly interested in what the do/don't are and how to optimize my performance.  Examples of each are welcomed.
