The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to Dump SQL Server DB on Client Server???

Asked by etsherman in MS SQL Server

Tags: , ,

I need to dump the SQL Server DB running on a client's server so it can be transported to my development environment.  Is this possible with SQL Server??  Also, I am using SQL Server Express Edition.

The reason for this is ...  The client is upgrading their accounting system from an older Pervasive DB to SQL Server.  I have two Access/VBA applications that currently connects to the accounting system and will need to be modified to connect to the SQL Server DB/Tables to do some re-development work because one of the tables changed a bit.  Currently these applications also connects to the main MySQL back-end database which supports them and I can do one of the following...

1.) From the Command Line run MySQL Dump and send the database down to a file then from my development environment open the database using this file which will in effect re-create the database here on my server.

2.) Or I can use the MySQL Query Browser tool on my server, connect to the client's server and back-up the database down to my server then open the database on my server using this file thus re-creating it here.  Basically the same as step #1 above.

How can I accomplish the same using SQL Server Express Edition on my end.

Thanks,

ET
