Query to change xxxxxxxxx to SSN xxx-xx-xxxx if the next colums =1 or 2

I'm running Visual Web Developer and using it's Query Builder to pull in data from a database.. I can pull in the data but I want to re-format a SSN xxxxxxxxx to xxx-xx-xxxx if the next Column has a number 1 or number 2 in it.  If this is possible, do I put the query statement in the (filter) column, (or) column.
