The memory suggestion did not help me.
I am having problems with our SQL server hanging up in my backup process. I have a deticated Dell SQL 2005 Server (x64) and I am expeiencing the same type of problem. We are open 24/7 and our production sever can not be down to support a bakup using SQL. By the same token my client base can not be down as my bakup is finishing.
This is what I have found thus far:
- The processor utilization spikes at 95+% w/disk utilzation near xero. It seems like SQL running from memory exclusively.
- This happens near the end of the backup process. My bckup data is going to the local drive.
- The data on this server is being replicated to another x64 server.
- Performance Toot does not indicate that there is a problem with the SQL Server.
- If I wait 10-12 minutes, perfomance goes back to normal. It's like SQL is trying to catch up on something that needs to be done using data in memory.
Any suggestions?
