SQL 2005 data to open in SQL 2000

Asked by jabramo in MS SQL Server

Hi Everyone,

Here is the situation;

I have a client running Microsoft Project Server 2003, SQL 2005, WSS 3.0 and IIS 6.0. There was alway issues with SQL 2005 and Project server 2003 and now has just gotten worst. There are about 7 major projects saved on SQL 2005 each with 7000 line or so. After working on the communication issues with SQL, Project server and WSS, I decided to setup a test lab and test SQL 2000 with Project Server 2003. Everything works like a charm and so as WSS and it couldn't get any better. Here is the question;

If I open up a project from the existing environment (MPS2003 with SQL2005) will I be able to save the project file on (MPS2003 and SQL2000) eventhough the project files were written with SQL2005 scripts? The client is not comfortable with conversion and of course deadline is right around the corner. I was never involved in this project before so now they want me to provide some sort of solution to remedy this problem. Any suggestion or advise would be appreciated.
