Browse All TopicsHello,
I am trying to set my SQL 2005 database so it can be connected by remote connections. I am trying to use the SQL Server Surface Area Config tool but when selecting the "Surface Area Configuration for Features" I get a:
Failed to connect to srver localhost\MICROSOFT##SSEE.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that udner the default settings SQL Server does nto allow remote connections.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong? On the server properties for the instance of 2005, I do have "Allow remote connections to this server" set.
Thank you.

To establish remote connections use Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections - not features. Or simply use Configuration Manager and enable network protocols.
