Thanks! I'm a newbie at setting these up.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI setup a SQL job to execute a package. As of right now I cannot get the job to run. When I do try to manually "Start Job at Step..." the job starts execution but fails.
The error message on the package execute Action is "Execution of job '...' failed. See the history for details".
I looked for something in the "Error Logs" under SQL Server Agent but there is nothing there related to the job I just ran. There are not even entries around the same time.
Where do I "See the history log for details."?

Glad I could help. Some of the logs are in non intuitive places. If you start using database mail you'll find the logs for that off elsewhere than the other sql logs too.
Always remember: Right click is your friend.
When approaching something new right click on a few things and see what options are available as you go along. It has saved me some time once I had drilled that into my head. It won't get everything, especially when things are all over the place but can help a bit :)
Good luck and enjoy the learning curve.

If you go into Agent\JobsJobs int SMSS and right click on the job You will see View History.
You may need to expand the stepps to get the relevant error.
