Is your Contact2.ID an Identity column? If so, the provided query will not work unless you wrap it in some additional SQL:
I have 2 tables contact1 and contact2. the contact1.acct field matches the contact2.acct field.
I need to pull the contact1.id values into contact2.id fields. How can I accomplish this on SQL Server 2000.

Set contact2.ID = contact1.id
