GENERATING XML FLUX WITH SUBNODES FROM SQL SERVER 2005

we have a table of cars with columns reference, price, inner_color, outer_color. We need to generate an xml flux with a subnode color like this :
<car>
<reference>123</reference>
<price>10000</price>
<color><inner>blue</inner><outer>red</outer></color>
</car>
We started with :
select reference, price, inner_color, outer_color for xlm raw, elements
but it does not create the subnode color. Of course we could do something like
select reference, price, '<inner>' + inner_color + '</inner><outer>' + outer_color + '</outer>' as color
but the < characters are transformed like &lt; and I guess there is a proper way to do it...

I think this should do it.

select reference as "car/reference",
	price as "car/price",

from yourtable
for XML PATH('Car')

Almost, actually I get twice the tag <car>, it generates :
<car>
<car>
<reference>123</reference>
<price>10000</price>
<color><inner>blue</inner><outer>red</outer></color>
</car>
</car>
Any clue ?

OK, I got it, we just need to take out the mandate, so it does :
select reference as "reference",
      price as "price",
      inner_color as "color/inner_color",
      outer_color as "color/outer_color"
from yourtable
for XML PATH('Car')
