TSQL Dates

My date field is as follows [ApptConfirmedDate] [datetime] NULL,

Displayed as follows 01/01/1901 00:00:00 in the table.

When I select the date field displayed using a query.
 Ie select ApptConfirmedDate from table the date field is displayed as follows 1901-01-01 00:00:00.000.

But what I want to achieve is display only the fields greater than todays date.

In my WHERE claus I have
AND CONVERT(VARCHAR, ApptConfirmedDate, 103) >= CONVERT(VARCHAR,GETDATE(), 103)


But its still displaying dates as follows.
2008-11-25 00:00:00.000.

this should work.

select * from dtCheck where  ApptConfirmedDate >= CONVERT(VARCHAR,GETDATE(), 120)

Converting to VARCHAR is a slower than:

WHERE DATEADD(DD, 0, DATEDIFF(DD, 0, ApptConfirmedDate)) >= DATEADD(DD, 0, DATEDIFF(DD, 0, GETDATE()))

If possible leave formatting of the date from datetime to string to the calling application  you can then take advantage of any localisation settings.
