removing sql express 2005, it's not in add/remove programs

Running SQL 2000 SP4. When installing sharepoint 3.0, it installed  SQL express 2005. I uninstalled sharepoint and then installed it again but attached the databases to SQL 2000. I need to remove SQL express 2005 but it is not in the Add/remove programs. How can i do this? I dont want to disturb any of my SQL 2000 databases.

that got rid of the product id but it didn't really uninstall it. it still shows up as sql server express 2005 embedded edition in my services. Also it still has the databases in windows explorer.
