Subtotal Conditional Formatting in SSRS

Tags: subtotal, reporting, format, matrix, conditional
Hi,
I have a matrix report in SSRS, I'm trying to set the color of subtotal value based on it's value (Positive numbers balck and negative numbers red).

=IIF(Subtotal>=0,"Black","Red")

I really appreciate any suggestion regarding how to do this.
Thanks

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Ok I don't get this one!!! When I run it or preview it, it looks fine but when I deploy it all subtotals are black! Any Idea?

Works fine in my tests (running SP2) - must be a problem with your report rather than a functional problem

it's funny when I export it in e.g. pdf format it looks fine but in the actual html format they are all black. (in the deployed version)

I figured out why but I don't know how to fix it, if you change the Font weight of the subtotal itself to bold it eliminates the color in the deployed version. Please give it a try and let me know if you get the same result.

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to this - yes I do get the same results when I make it bold. Must be a bug in the rendering engine.

Not a big deal. Thanks for checking into the issue. Hopefully they'll fix it in the next sp.

I have a similar problem but slightly different. I want to do the same thing only using multiple conditions. I have not been able to get the syntax dialed in. I have a field called BAL in my tabular report. I want to make rows with the BAL > 0 "lightblue" and BAL < 0 "Red" and all others "Transparent". Can anyone help with the proper syntax for multiple conditions?
