The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

How to use SSIS package in order to remove NULL Data from XML Source.

Hello experts how is everyone doing today?
I have a simple task, which I know can be handle in many different way, but in my case I want to handle it using an SSIS package.

First and foremost I have an SSIS package which imports an XML file into a database table (SQL 2005).
On the table I have a specific column which has a default constraint which works perfectly fine.

The way I have my SSIS package is that I takes an xml file , does the data conversion , and then pass the converted data to an OLEDB connection.

This is also works fine, the problem occurs at a specific column which I notice by using a dataviewer that it passes a NULL value into it whenever there is no data...that little bug causes it go bad since my constraint can accept blank data and insert a (1),but when it receives NULL my package stops working.

I did do a small work around which is to modify my table to accept null which then the SSIS package works, but again in this case I need to make this work without modifying the column of the table to accept nulls.

So what I really need to know is if there is a way after the DataConversion (SSIS) how can i modify the column to look for null and enter any data ...then pass it to my OLEDB destination.

Is this possible?? and if so how.

Thanks in advance guys.
