Lost database connection SQL

Hi,
We have a  VB6 programm with an ODBC connection to MS-SQL 2000. This programm runs for months without any problem. Last thursday every hour the programm lost the connection. Only solution is completly reset the PC. Then it works fine for another hour. When the connection is lost we can browse in Windows  to the server without any problem. We changed the switch, we checked if the network card switch off. No result at all

What error it gives when connection is lost?

what happens if you open a profiler on this program ?
what calls does it makes ?
maybe it hangs at a certain point and recieve a timeout ?
from my experience, this issues mostly happens because something changed in the data in the tables
so you need to find exactly what data the program access and when did that data last changed
