Greetings,
I am running a 3rd party application on a server that is running a data extraction from a source database to a reporting database. Both DB's are on the same server. The server is an HP DL380 G5.....Dual Quad Core processors......4GB of RAM. When I run Task Manager on the DB server and check performance, only one core out of eight shows peak usage, the other seven are negligible. The CPU usage bar is around 17%. Also under the Processes tab, the SQLSERVR.EXE process is taking about 17% CPU Usage and 1,679,388 K of memory.
The extraction is running extremely slow. Shouldn't SQL 2005 be using more than a single core? I have checked the properties of the DB server instance and it is set to use all the cores.

Is there a way to make SQL use more cores?
