The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. SQL2005 remote authentication

The problem is that remote users cannot authenticate (connect) to an SQL2005 server running on and advanced server 2000 machine. I am able to run the application from the server itself and authenticate but not remotely.

The server is configured for windows authentication and sql autthentication. Remote login access is also enabled. When on the server itself and connecting, if you use a trusted connection or the sql administrator you can connect fine, any other users added to the sql login will not work.

On remote access you cannot connect at all, not using a trusted connection, sql administrator, or any other users assigned on the sql login.

The advanced server 2000 is part of the domain, but does not have active directory installed. The lan administrator will not do this, feeling it will cause more problems. Will installing active directory on the server solve this problem, or is there something else that needs to be done.

Any help would be appreciated.
