The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

SQL Server Reporting Services: Is it possible to either hide a field or sort on a field not in the report in a Report-Builder-generated report?

Asked by jfellrath in SQL Server 2005, SQL Reporting

Hi all,

I'm working with Report Builder in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services.  I've created what I feel is a pretty effective model and I'm trying to create some reports with it.

I have a field that I use in my regular reports for sorting and I'd like to use it in my Report Builder reports as well.  I've included it in my model, and if I pull it into the report and set up a sort on it, it works just fine.

What I'd like to do, though, is to try to sort on it WITHOUT it being in the report (as it's just a number, and might confuse the users as well as take up valuable real estate on the report), or alternatively put it in the report and hide it, still allowing me to sort on it.  It doesn't appear to be possible to just shrink it smaller than .1" wide (if I was to change the grid size of the Builder).  The only thing I've gotten to work (aesthetically, anyway) is to add the field in, change the text color to match the background color for the field itself and its title, and then remove the borders between the two fields.

It's not crucial, but my users would really love to do it.  If it involves changing the model, that's fine too, I'm open to suggestions.  We're still in the experimental phase with SSRS so the sky's the limit!  Start Free Trial
