We are deploying a new server that will be running SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. The SQL will be used by a third party web-based application.
The new server is an HP ProLiant ML370 G5 Tower Server. There will be two separate RAID setups on the server: first RAID will be the boot drive and the second RAID will be used for the SQL Database.
The operating system is Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition.
We have two specific requirements/questions:
1) How to install SQL 2005 with "mix mode authentication"?
2) For better performance and data security we were recommended to install SQL 2005 so that the logs as well as the databases are installed on the second RAID and not the boot RAID.
a) Is that true?
b) Should it be only the database or both the database as well as the logs that should be installed on the second RAID?
c) Assuming this is true, do I accomplish that during the initial installation of SQL 2005 or after initial installation, and HOW?
