I am using SQL Server Developer Edition x64. It appears to be there is something left over from a SQL Express installation. When I try to install workstation components (Management Studio), I get the following message:
Name: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Tools Express Edition
Reason: Your upgrade is blocked. For more information about upgrade support, see the "Version and Edition Upgrades" and "Hardware and Software Requirements" topics in SQL Server 2005 Setup Help or SQL Server 2005 Books Online.
Build version check:
Your upgrade is blocked because the existing component is a later version than the version you are trying to upgrade to. To modify an existing SQL Server component, go to Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel, select the component you would like to modify, and then click Change/Remove.
Edition check:
Your upgrade is blocked because of edition upgrade rules. For more information about edition upgrades, see the Version and Edition Upgrades topic in SQL Server 2005 Setup Help or SQL Server 2005 Books Online.
However, when I look in the programs and features control panel applet, I cannot find anything which looks like SQL Server Express Edition. Is there any way to find out why SQL Server thinks EE workstation components are installed and to remove them, or at least have SQL Server think they are removed?

It details many of the issues involved with SSIS on x64. Also, you may be having issues with installing the SSIS client tools (which do not come with the Express version - which version do you have installed?) See http://forums.microsoft.co
