Importance of analysis service and Fulltext service in a active/passive cluster

I have two dl 380s that have 64 bit windows 2003 installed. They are currently clustered with sql 2005 installed and set for clustering. My application doesnt need analysis or fulltext service, when i disable them the cluster reports an error. I am trying to find a way to by pass them and understand how these two services function within the cluster. Can anyone help me out?
