The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. MS Access - VPN - SQL Server 2005?

I'm trying to setup a VPN connection from a clients location.

I have the VPN server setup and can access other networked computers.
Its a PPP VPN.

Basically we have a MS Access Program that we are trying to have a client use over a VPN connection.
The MS Access program needs to read data back and forth to our SQL 2005 server.

The problem is that MS Access claims it can't find the server. Upon trying to resolve this we tried setting up a ODBC connection on the clients PC to the SQL Server. But we keep getting this error:

ODBC connection failure: SQL error 53 : invalid login ect...

Thats not the exact message I don't have the exact message.

My question is what am I missing that needs to be in place for MS Access to be able to reach our SQL server through VPN?

Do we even need the VPN? Can Access connect directly to the SQL server?
