OK i did try to install from CD again and its give me the same error again that

Error:
An installation package for the product SQLXML4 cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'sqlxml4.msi'

I have installed the Management Studio independently but tell me is it going to work with the Developer edition of SQL server 2005

Because when I am trying to connect server on Management Studio express edition its giving me following error

Error:
Cannot connect to MyPC\MSSQLSERVER2005

an error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. this failure may be caused by the fact under the default settings SQL Server do not allow remote connections(provider: SQL Network  Interfaces, error - Error Locating Server/instance Specified))

Thanks
so there is no instance of mssql running, try to install it with option network, not workstation

Hi,

How do you know that SQL is running? Suggest looking in the services applet. From memory the services do not start automatically after installation. You will have to start them. Check in services if they are set to start automatically. If so, then reboot and check. Are there any error messages in event log?

Cheers
  David
OK, might also be time to go back a few steps... Stop any SQL Server and SQL Agent services. Uninstall any SQL Server and start from scratch, also uninstall SQLXML4.0 and SQL agent. Before you do start the reinstall, make sure you have all service packs for the OS and .Net.

Then install SQL Server as a named service.

What versions of the OS are you on ?
@shieldguy: would help if you could explain how it is now working considering the initial response to your accepted solution. Might be important for anyone else having similar problems - as to why it didn't work, and then became the accepted answer....
I got it working by properly installing the SQL Server Studio Manager Express edition, then I solve problem of connecting with server by starting the SQL Server
Thanks for that - there are a few people that have problems getting it working and I am sure will benefit from your posting...
To be honest I didnt get exactly what I have problem with, I still didnt figure out why I cant install it properly from CD, Why i got error with SQLXML4.0
but this solution does get me going and I got what I want that is SQL Server Management Studio

Thanks to all Experts on their support on this problem
