The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. goofy question about views

This is a design/approach question.  I really feel like I'm getting backed into a corner here.

We have a couple of 3rd party tools that can either source Sql tables or views as their data sources.  Due to the varied data requirements, I'm going with views for the most part.

I hate this though.  Imagine a table or two that you now have dozens of views based on, with the views themselves varying very little.  Maybe one view is based on "where RowType == 3" and another view is based on "where RowType == 4".

It's not *always* that simplistic, but it often is.

The sheer number of these views is only going to grow.  It's depressing.  How am I going to maintain all these?  You have any idea how long it takes to right-click a view, Script View as -> Alter to -> New query window, then do that 50 more times?  Before long I'll be doing it 100 times, I bet.  Imagine when we need a new column added to all these views?

I'm no DBA.  But I have these tools that my company loves, that will not connect to a SP and let you plug in a parm, nothing like that.  So I need either some way of bulk-modifying views, or...something.

I'm just laying out the problem.  This is where I need a level-headed expert with some experience.
