Domain Local groups can't be used to assign permissions in a Mixed Mode Environment.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsHi,
We have a newly installed SQL 2008 server running on Server 2008 x64.
We have created various AD security groups used to assign permission to various databases such as database reader, report reader etc.
However, the permissions do not appear to be applying correctly. The user receives an access denied message. The work around is to add their account in as a user, rather than as a member of a group.
No errors on DC's.
Error Message is:
Theres an error message in the SQL Server log:
Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\User1. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: 1.1.1.1]
AD is mixed mode.
Server is Windows 2008 Standard.
SQL Server 2008 Enterprise.
SQL and Windows Permissions used.
Security groups are Domain Local groups.
Does anyone know why we can't use security groups to apply permissions to database but user objects work?
