Windows Authentication Error

I have a newly built Windows Server 2008 Enterprise server built on a VMware ESX virtual machine running SQL Server 2008 Standard.  This server is a member of our Active Directory domain and the SQL service account is a domain user.  Also, SQL Server is set up with mixed mode authentication.

I have created a Maintenance Plan which is set to run once a day that will do a full back up of all user DB's.  No matter how I run it (on schedule or manually executed) the job fails with the error I have included at the end.  I have tried logging in to SQL with with Managment Studio both remotely and on the local machine and I used my own domain account which is a local admin on the machine and a member of the sysadmin role in SQL Server.  When I do a trace of the the maintenance plan when i try to run it i can see it is always trying to execute as the SQL Server Agent account which is the same as my database engine service account (also a member of the sysadmin role).

I get similar errors when I try to run reports using Reporting Services.  However, everything else works just fine.  I have website that use this DB server and they can connect just fine and I can connect to it using Management Studio with our a problem.

Any help is appreciated.

which suggests verifying that you are qualifying the username as domain\username and not just username.

That is actually my post.  I posted this question there a few days ago, but figured i would post here also.  I am using fully qualified accounts.  In my error message above you can see that the user it is being run as is "ADS\dbact".

I created a new SQL Login (not a domain or local machine account) and
made it part of the sysadmin role.  Then I went into the connection
properties for my db connection in the Maintenance Plan and changed
the log in credientials from using Windows NT Integrated
Authentication to using the new user i just created.  After doing so
everything worked as it should.

I am really confused...

I could not find a solution for this anywhere or from anyone.  I reinstalled SQL Server and it worked.
