The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Windows Authentication Error

I have a newly built Windows Server 2008 Enterprise server built on a VMware ESX virtual machine running SQL Server 2008 Standard.  This server is a member of our Active Directory domain and the SQL service account is a domain user.  Also, SQL Server is set up with mixed mode authentication.

I have created a Maintenance Plan which is set to run once a day that will do a full back up of all user DB's.  No matter how I run it (on schedule or manually executed) the job fails with the error I have included at the end.  I have tried logging in to SQL with with Managment Studio both remotely and on the local machine and I used my own domain account which is a local admin on the machine and a member of the sysadmin role in SQL Server.  When I do a trace of the the maintenance plan when i try to run it i can see it is always trying to execute as the SQL Server Agent account which is the same as my database engine service account (also a member of the sysadmin role).

I get similar errors when I try to run reports using Reporting Services.  However, everything else works just fine.  I have website that use this DB server and they can connect just fine and I can connect to it using Management Studio with our a problem.

Any help is appreciated.
