I think your case is not clear enough.

What else do you want to know?

Can you connect to the server?
Do you mean that you are facing new databases you are not familiar? If true what are they? Who is managing the db? I mean could someone do some changes in server... etc.

Can you connect to the server?  Yes

Do you mean that you are facing new databases you are not familiar?  No, databases are where they always have been I've just upgraded my Enterprise Manager to Mangement Studio and now I can't open MY databases.

If true what are they? Who is managing the db? I mean could someone do some changes in server... etc.

db is managed by my ISP; that's why there are many dbs I can't open (and I don't want to them).  The other dbs used to just show up in Enterprise Manager, but I couldn't open them (just the way my SQL account should work).  My ISPs suggestion was to upgrade my databases to SQL Server 2008, but that's not a solution, but merely a workaround.  I know 2008 should be backwards compatible.

Upgrading your db to SQL 2008  is not the solution for your case. so check your account access rights... for doing this you should ask your ISP? Do you using the same user and password u used to connect with the old managment studio?

by: loiswalkPosted on 2008-11-30 at 14:00:58ID: 23064987

Yes, I used the same account to connect to the older management studio and enterprise manager and they worked fine.  I don;t think it's an account privledge thing.  Since I can connect to the 2005 SQL Server that contains my database it sure seems like I should just be able to open 'databases' and see my database.  Heck, I can even run a query and see all the data in once of my tables without specifying the database I want to look in.

by: tigin44Posted on 2008-11-30 at 14:04:17ID: 23065006

accessin to a database server and a database are not the same things. you may acces a database but if your login not given the connect right for a database you can not connect. Check if your login still have the access permision for your database?

by: loiswalkPosted on 2008-11-30 at 14:09:03ID: 23065027

it does using 2005 management studio.
Like I said I can even run a query from within 2008 management studio.  I jsut want to see the database and be able to right-click on it to add fields, etc.
