Question

Wanted to get decimal results.

Hi Experts,

The ExecTime and Record in this view are integers but I wanted to get average results with 2 decimal points.

SELECT     AVG(ExecTime) AS AvgTime, AVG(Record) AS AvgRec, Getdate() As DateNow
FROM         myTable

Help will be highly appreciated.

You can use Cast(Avg(ExecTime) as decimal(10,2))

Ajitha,

I am expecting to get XX.XX where X is (0-9) but I always get XX.00.

Any idea?

Not sure. what is the actual value should be. I tested and it does produce two decimals properly

I tried with avg of 10,10,10 and i got 13.33

You must be getting 10.00 --- (3X10/3).

or probably your samples are : 10, 20, 10 then 13.33 is correct.

Thanks for your help. I was able to construe the right solution based on your original suggestion:
 
Cast(Avg(Convert(Decimal(10,2),ExecTime)) As Decimal(10,2)) AS AvgTime
