SQL express 2008 listening port

I normally use svrnetcn.exe to check if protocols are configurred and listening in sql however what do i use in sql 2008 express as when i use svrnetcn.exe everything is blank

I know it should be 1433 but I need to verify its accepting connections on this port though. The clients cannot connect do they need a special odbc driver for sql express ?

I'm not sure if it works the same way but when i login to a normal sql setup i can use the command prompt using the command OSQL -Usa (sa being the username) ans then the password being whatever. it then allows me in however under sql 2008 express it reports connection failed. This is from the server sql express is on

The ports have to be configured as they are set to dynamic by default

By default, Express will not have Remote connections enabled and would listen on Dynamic ports instead of the Default Static port 1433.
Hence Enabling Remote configurations on port 1433 should do..
