Select * from customers, I would like to create a temporary variable to hold data from an oracle server and then transform and process this into the permanent table.

Create a Variable in Package scope as type object
Create an Execute Sql Task
after setting connection and sql query,
set Result Set as Full Result Set in General Tab
then in Result Set Tab ,
set this variable as result set
This store all of your sql query result in an object then you can loop through result by a foreach loop container and process it,

you can use object variables for saving result sets
explain more if you mean other thing
