Hold down the shift key and while holding it, double click. Do not let go of the shift key till you see the database container.

In order to work on VBA access application, I open the mdb file by holding the shift key and double clicking the mdb file.
I find this process not very accurate. Half the time it opens the file sometimes it takes many many tires. Is there sure way to open mdb file in dev mode? This is very irritating.
Please help

This is what I do.
1) select the mdb file
2) press shitf and together double click my mouse on the selected mdb file
3) Should open the mdb file.
Step 3 is where I run into problems.
I have changed my mouse too, they keyboard could be bad? it's not very old.
Any idea?

If you have a dialog (login, security warning), you need to hold down shift while the database opens (i.e. when you click [OK]). In other words, the shift state isn't checked while you double-click, but when the database actually opens, which might be half a second later even without any dialog box.
But really, you should turn off whatever you have selected in "Startup" and/or rename your AutoExec macro while you are designing. Turn it back on before you distribute your new version.
