Persistent Table Link Definition - Access 2003 Link to SQL Server 2000

Asked by fredmart3 in Microsoft Access Database, Microsoft ADP

Tags: Access 2003, SQL Server, Linked Table

I have a table link from Access 2003 to a SQL Server 2000 report object that was working great.  But then the SQL developer increased the field length of a vchar field (vccostcenter) in the SQL report from 17 chars to 18 chars.  Now, no matter what I do, vccostcenter still shows up as 17 chars (missing the last char) in my linked table in Access.
I deleted the link, re-linked it, tried some Linked Manager re-sets, compacted and repaired - all to no avail - still shows as 17 chars.  When I look at the report via an ADP to the SQL Server database, field length is correctly at 18 chars.
The temp work-around was for me to ask the SQL developer to make a copy of the SQL report object and rename it with my name appended.  I linked to it with the new name and it worked great - i.e. the vccostcenter shows up as 18 chars.  But this is not a good long term solution as this report is used in a lot of down-stream data reduction processes.  I know how to modify the table link parameters for a text file link but do any of you know a way to modify the table link definition from Access 2003 to SQL Server 2000?
Thanks!  Fred M3
