The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Access 2003 seems to buffer an input file and not read the new copy of it

Tags: MS, Access, 2003, Running on XP
Bizarre problem here.  I'm using TransferText to input a text file to an access table; the table being input to was dropped and re-created from a table template with "Select * into Table1 where 1=2".  I saved a text file yesterday, and loaded it OK with my VBA procedure to transfertext in.  Today, I saved an updated file, and ran the same VBA procedure (essentially, DoCmd.Transfertext) to input the new file.  The result of this is that the OLD file is loaded (the new file was saved with the same name in the old file's location.)  When I saved the new file with a different name, the procedure loaded it correctly...once.  If I go to input the file manually via Get External Data/Import, using the same import specifications, the table is correctly loaded with the new file.

The question: is Access caching the original file somewhere, and if so, how do I clear the cache?  The other possibility is that the XP synchronization manager might be creating a local cache of the file that Access is directed to when it tries to open the file (which is stored on a network folder.)  I did reboot the machine and run Access anew with the app, and it STILL loaded the old file when pointed to the new one to load.
