I need some resources for evaluating and possibly using Java for an upcoming project. Anyone with experience using Java that can help, please pitch in.
Some things to include...
What libraries are available for
1. windows and dialogs
2. database access
3. internet and web based apps
4. What is likely to be stable
5. What tools are nice (especially editors or IDEs; I like MsAccess, for example, because I can do global searches on all the modules easily, and change a program while running it; it's easier than, say, Visual C++ 6).
6. What books (or web pages) have good simple references and discussions
I used Java a little a while ago, and have experience in C/C++, VB, and other programming languages.
