The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I get a combobox to update a subform with a new set of data?

Tags: Microsoft, Access, 2003, Problems with combobox driving and refereshing a subform, MS Access VBA, 2003, n/a
Let me preface by saying that I've been more of process and systems flow designer for the past 15 years and find myself without a developer to build my design.  I'm building a prototype and know what I am doing is possible, but I can't make it work.  This includes reviewing many similar problems here and a few other places.  Perhaps it just needs to be 'explicit". Ok thanks.

The overview is that I want the user to pick a manaager from a combobox.  that is the only field on the header (adding the subform creates the header section).  The combobox has two fields - ManagerID (hidden) and ManagerName.

the subform would then pull data on that manager's active projects, so its a query to enformce status.  I want to use the subform to drive navigation so the user can update various facets of individual projects.  ManagerID is the foriegn key to tblproject.

The mainform is frmPickManager
THe combobox is cboPickManager
The qry underlying that is qrySelectActiveManager

The subform is fsubqryActiveProjects

My db is very normalized because I expect to extend it beyond a few managable values for the data "types" being collected.

the other problem I am having with this is that combo seems to sometimes update tblmanager by putting the managerID in the ManagerName field.

I appreicate your patience with what seems to be basic problem.

thanks
