The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Text Box Change Event

Asked by jwoodhams in Access Forms, VB Controls

Hi All,
I am trying to run code that I have assigned to a button on an MSAccess form. The code creates an SQL statement which searches the database for an address. I want to run the code when the user clicks the button but also, when the user changes the value of a specific text box on the form. I want it to run every time the user puts a new value in the text box.  For example, the user types in "1" and the code runs and returns all the records containing a "1".  The user then types in a "2', and the code runs and returns all teh records container a "12" and so on.  The problem that I am having is, when the user types a "1" and the text box Change event fires, the text box value is still "null".  However, if I exit the text box and manually click the button, the value is exposed.  I have tried refreshing the form prior to running the code and that works however, it sets the focus back on the text box and highlights all the information contained with in it and will not allow for users to enter spaces in the text string.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Sample code would look something like this:

Private sub button1_click()
    'run code
    Dim strValue as string
    strValue = me.textbox
End sub

Private sub textbox_Change()
   button1_click
End sub

When the button is clicked, strValue reads the value from the text box
When the textbox_Change event is fired, strValue is null
I need to populate strValue.

Any help is appreciated and Thanks in advanceStart Free Trial
