Question

Tabs hidden by Sub-Form in Access 2007

Asked by: WeiserTech

I don't understand what causes this, since I have not added any code yet, and it seems to be an issue with the sub-form or its detail properties, however I have attempted changing each by trial and error to no avail, it's frustrating and not ALL sub-forms cause this to happen, I've even tried eliminating the white space...The 2 files that I opened with related issues both worked fine for me, so my issue is unique.

I've attached DB, open Switchboard, 1st Tab is Client Info, which hides tabs, 2nd Income Tab does not, remaining hide as well up to Calculator which does not hide the tabs.

Won't let me attach .ACCDB or ZIP containing, any ideas?

{very wild guess}
Make sure that on your main form, all the subform controls that participate in your tab control, are at least .2 inches height-width larger than each of the forms that serve as their subform.

If not, strange resizing will ensue when you click on the tab.

Two things can be wrong:
1) When placing a subform on a tab, make sure that the tab is selected and the background shows dark when placing the subform. Normally I test this by selecting another tab and see or the subform "disappears".
When a subform is "misplaced", then use CTRL-X to cut it, click on the tab and press CTRL-V to paste it on the correct tab.
2) When you want another tab "inside" a tab, first create a subform with a new tab-control and place that on a tab.

WeiserTech,

"Won't let me attach .ACCDB or ZIP containing, any ideas?"
The site does not support attaching .accdb files yet.

Simply add .mdb to the end of your file name:

Original Name: MyDatabase.accdb
New Name: MyDatabase.accdb.mdb

Unfortunately none of the previous attempts are the answer for the tab problems either...

Plz check out Client tab in Switchboard as well as subsequent tabs, sorry about missing tables!

I believe the problem is more in the format of the sub-form than the tab control form.

Thanks Nic,

Unfortunately that did not work either, could it perhaps be some system settings that I have, although not all the tabs sub-forms hide the tabs from view...

Also I opened the previous poster's db that was having a similar issue and I didn't have the same results as he described, but I am using version 2007.

Any ideas, I am stumped!

Nic, what did you try and do?

by: nico5038Posted on 2008-07-27 at 12:34:31ID: 22099321

I've replace the subforms like:
1) Click the subform
2) Press CTRL-X (Cut)
3) Click on the tab so an orange line shows that the tab is selected
4) Press CTRL_V (Paste)

They won't show for me as there are no tables linked to them, all you'll see without a  filled rowsource is a hairline...

When you import the Switchboard form in the "full table" .mdb it should work.

by: WeiserTechPosted on 2008-07-27 at 12:51:03ID: 22099359

NOPE, no change...

I will just do it over by building the sub-forms first.

by: nico5038Posted on 2008-07-27 at 13:11:18ID: 22099424

Did you move the Switchboard form to the original .accdb ?
The tables are needed to see the subforms filled.
When I replace the source of the "not showing" subforms they work as expected...

You could also place a zip of the remaining tables so I can check.

Knock yourself out!  Thanks!

Strip the ".mdb " from file name - this is ACCDB 2007

by: nico5038Posted on 2008-07-27 at 13:36:21ID: 22099505

Hmm, won't work as the tables are linked to the "GCS Creditors.accdb" :-(
Can you zip the file before posting, saves space and downloading time :-)

by: WeiserTechPosted on 2008-07-27 at 14:18:05ID: 22099609

OK, try this

by: nico5038Posted on 2008-07-27 at 14:40:19ID: 22099656

Hmm, I guess the problem is the fact that the window is scrolled downwards.
The tabs aren't hidden, but at the top of the page.
I've shrunk the subforms to fit the visible page and now the tab's remain visible.
